1. The capital city of Costa Rica is San Jose. The longitude is about 84 degrees West and the latitude is about 9.9 degrees North.
2. According to weatherspark.com in 2013, the warmest month in San Jose was April with an average monthly temperature of 85 degrees F. The coldest month in San Jose was November with an average monthly temperature of 65 degrees F. Based on this information, the annual range of temperature days for San Jose is 20 degrees F.
3 & 4. Most often, like Hawaii, San Jose's temperature stays mainly in the 80's. According to the temperature controls, if the weather is warmer than 65 degrees F, than that calls for a heating degree day, which means they need to generate enough energy for those who would be likely to use the air conditioner. San Jose rarely drops below 65 degrees F, so there is no need to supply for cooling degree days.
5. I believe San Jose, and all of Costa Rica for that matter, will experience temperature changes in the years to come. This is a slow process and will not be happening any time in the near future, but I predict that San Jose, Costa Rica will be experiencing hotter days in place of what used to be their cooler season. I believe this will have something to do with the ocean currents, since Costa Rica is an island. As with many island-nations already, I believe the rise of sea level will have an impact on Costa Rica. In many years to come, I predict there will not even be a Costa Rica if we don't figure out a way to stop the rising sea level. According to worldbank.org the temperatures in Costa Rica have already increased to almost 0.3 degrees C over the last ten years. This increase has already led to hotter and longer dry season.
